STATE ACTION ALERT
Calls, Faxes, e-mails needed to oppose the cloning of human embryos for research and destruction -- Assembly Health Committee-- Tuesday, June 18.

SB 1230-- Bans so-called "reproductive cloning," BUT allows cloning human beings for research and destruction, euphemistically referred to as "therapeutic cloning."
In reality, the cloning process is the same whether for research or reproduction, and results in the creation of whole human embryos.  The only distinction is that one is created to be brought to full term, the other is created for exploitation and destruction in medical or scientific research projects.

California ProLife Council believes that innocent human life in all of its stages is entitled to the protection of the law, and that human embryos should not be created for the purpose of research.

Call or FAX your own Assembly Member, and those members of the Assembly Health Committee listed below to ask them to oppose SB 1230.  We expect SB 1230 to be taken up on Tuesday, June 18, (1:30 p.m., Room 4202, State Capitol, Sacramento).  Phone calls or faxes will receive more attention than e-mails.  If you use e-mail, state your opposition in the subject line-- e.g. "Oppose SB 1230-- cloning humans for research."

Hearings are open to the public, so you are also welcome to attend the hearing.

Here is the link to the Assembly Health Committee Committee contact information  (The FAX number for each member is 916-319-21__, insert the district number.):
