Does Pro-Life Matter At the Local Level?

As a candidate for school board some years ago, someone asked what my position on abortion was. Another candidate was nearby and the citizen asked him his view. He declined and said his position didn’t matter because he was running for school board.

The issues of whether someone’s position on abortion matters for local offices surfaces as candidate questionnaires are circulated.

The first response is to tell pro-lifers that these are the kinds of people that may run for higher office. This is of course true.

But, as you can read on this blog, positions on abortion do matter. San Diego schools are about to repeal a policy that requires parental consent before a child can be taken to an abortion clinic.

Also, the Orange County Board of Supervisors is getting rid of Planned Parenthood as a contractor.

It matters. Cities, counties, schools and other agencies control money for grants, property for lease or access to citizens. Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups are very good about maximizing these assets.

Pro-Lifers should want Pro-Lifers making those decisions.
