The latest media ‘coverage’ of voluntary euthanasia is an intentional “cover up ” for what is in fact the state-sponsored end of individuals’ vulnerable lives.
The article below cheerfully states that, “Death with Dignity” is not ‘assisted suicide.’ The author and euthanasia advocates know that most Americans are uncomfortable with state sponsored suicide. So, presto, we have given it a new name.
The story breezily relates how Linda, recipient of Washington State’s first authorized killing of a non-criminal, had the Compassion and Choices of Washington physician, her dog and family nearby as government -funded lethal drugs were given to her.
The article neglects to tell you that there is no requirement that she or any patient so killed get any type of counseling. And Linda found out only last month that she had cancer.
Those “Compassion” docs are pretty quick with solutions, eh? And you know what’s weird … ‘Compassion docs,’ like Kevorkian, come to a patient to present only one solution, the Final one.
Good Hospice counselors will tell you that both the patient and family members should receive deep and extensive counseling in order to get a proper perspective for an experience that they have never before faced. Making rash and emotional decisions when faced with such diagnosis is not uncommon.
But, we live in a Brave New World of freedom… and “death” is the “freedom” the governments of Oregon, and now Washington will offer you if you receive a terminal diagnosis.
Who says the government is a faceless and uncaring bureaucracy? Reminds me of kindly government actions of the past. The local newspapers were very supportive, and discrete about the implications. But a certain foreign paper decided to emblazon the ‘new procedure’ on the front page. Please see the New York Times front page from October 8, 1933. “Nazis Plan to Kill Incurables to End Pain; German Religious Groups Oppose Move.”
Remember, that government and its supportive news sources called it ’dignified death’ as well. So go back to your village and about your business, apparently there is nothing to be concerned about here.
The dead won’t complain, why should you? There is a Brave New World of “change,” “hope,” and “freedom” that government health-care management will soon bring. And as the gates of every government care camp once proclaimed, this is a work “which shall make you free.”
