Facts of Life—June 17, 2003—Do Your Part to Recall Gray
Davis—See Below
AJR 2—the resolution calling for a “celebration” of the 30th
anniversary of Roe v. Wade, authored by Assemblywoman Hannah
Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara) passed the California Senate on June
16. See
how your Senator voted at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_0001-0050/ajr_2_vote_20030616_1013AM_sen_floor.html
AJR 2 passed the

the Assembly floor vote.
The pro-abortion American Medical Association (AMA) today approved a
resolution, which endorses the cloning of human embryos for the mere
purpose of medical research—so-called “therapeutic cloning,”
calling it “medically ethical.”
See
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,89656,00.html.
The AMA, which is meeting in Chicago this week, may also
take up a resolution proposed by the Wisconsin Medical
Association to reverse their endorsement of Attorney General
John Ashcroft’s November 2001 ruling that federally controlled
drugs may not be used to assist suicide.
Both mom and baby went home in good health on June 10, after a
Palmdale woman, who was in a coma, gave birth to a baby boy 15 weeks
early on February 26. Amanda
Thomas went to the hospital in mid-February for shortness of
breath and other serious flu-like symptoms that turned out to be
viral pneumonia. Thomas
passed out when they put her on oxygen, and three days later
doctors induced the coma to stabilize her condition, complicated
by acute respiratory distress syndrome and kidney failure.
Little Charlie is not the first baby to successfully
survive birth from a mom in a coma, but it was a miracle,
nonetheless. See
the story at Bill Pryor, Alabama’s Attorney General, is also President Bush’s appointee to the 11th U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals. And here is one appointee who has no apologies for his pro-life position. Asked by Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) if he still believed that Roe v. Wade is "the worst abomination in the history of constitutional law," Pryor said, "I stand by that comment. I believe that not only is [Roe] unsupported by the text and structure of the Constitution, but it has led to a morally wrong result. It has led to the slaughter of millions of innocent unborn children." Wow. See http://www.nationalreview.com/york/york061203.asp and http://dynamic.washtimes.com/print_story.cfm?StoryID=20030611-113019-8769r or http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030611-113019-8769r.htm When the Crossroads pro-lifers were on the floor of the California Assembly on June 2nd, about to be introduced to the Assembly and onlookers by Assemblyman Dave Cogdill (R-Modesto), suddenly “free-speech” became a problem for pro-abortion Democrats. The young walkers, who began their annual summer trek across country May 29 in San Francisco were asked to remove themselves to the gallery for the introduction. Somebody was offended by their pro-life T-shirts, which merely said “Pro-life,” so they dutifully complied. About 18 walkers, including a Catholic priest, are expected to arrive in Washington, D. C. on August 14, after several months of witnessing to the pro-life message in towns across America with this relay walk. http://headlines.agapepress.org/archive/6/92003c.asp The new government in Belgium will apparently require that all hospitals, including Catholic hospitals, must facilitate euthanasia according to the new law passed there last year. Each hospital will be expected to have a team of doctors available for physician-assisted suicide. http://www.expatica.com/index.asp?pad=2,366,&item_id=31998
Doug Johnson, Legislative Director for National Right to Life
Committee, has chronicled the endless distortions of the facts in
the media in reporting on partial-birth abortions and the
legislation to ban this brutal, inhumane abortion procedure.
He has called some editors to task, and has achieved some
modifications in the reporting of at least one newspaper.
Read his paper at http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/pba/PBAmythsmemo01303.html
and read about it at http://www.townhall.com/news/politics/200306/CUL20030616d.shtml.
Do your part to help remove the most pro-abortion Governor in our
nation's history! The
recall of pro-abortion Governor Gray Davis is gaining ground,
despite the rallying of pro-abortion groups to his side. See the
