The
CA Assembly Judiciary Committee has endorsed the bill to permit
physician-assisted suicide. The
committee voted 5-4 to endorse AB 654, which would permit
physician-assisted suicide for people with fewer than six months
to live. The bill next moves to the Assembly's
appropriations committee before a floor vote expected by May.

Major clashes on
vital pro-life issues have been occurring in Congress and will
continue to do so during the coming months. Senate Republican leaders are
proposing a reform to prevent Democratic filibusters intended to
inhibit the election of the President's judicial nominees.
Congress may also consider further legislation dealing with the
rights of incapacitated persons. The United Nations General
Assembly adopted a declaration urging all member nations to
enact bans on all forms of human cloning. Read

This annual event showcases some of California's brightest students as they present their award winning pro-life speeches to a panel of experts and judges. Last year's winner also took first place at the national competition! The event will be held at 10am, April 30th, at the capitol building in Sacramento, and will be a great opportunity to encourage these dedicated students!
