CURRENT LIFE ISSUES:

u A recent study in Norway demonstrates the lasting effects of abortion on women. University of Oslo researchers compared 40 women who had had a miscarriage with 80 who chose to have an abortion. Miscarriage was associated with more mental distress in the six months after the loss of a baby - but abortion had a much longer lasting negative effect. The proportion of women who had a miscarriage suffering distress decreased during the study period, to just 2.6% at five years. But among the abortion group 20% were still experiencing distress at five years. Read the complete story.

u Not only are we preparing to oppose euthanasia legislation here in California, but pro-life efforts are waging anti-death campaigns all over the world! In a rare prosecution of someone who aided a patient in killing herself, a Dutch court has sentenced a man who says he is a "suicide consultant" to one year in prison for helping a woman die. In the Czech Republic, churches and faith groups from across the religious spectrum have been united by their opposition to a paragraph in the draft penal code. Under the new code, euthanasia would no longer by treated as murder. Learn more about euthanasia, including how you can help keep it out of the law books!
