HOW TO USE DEATH AS A SALESMAN AS A TOOL IN A EUTHANASIA PUBLIC INFORMATION CAMPAIGN (E.P.I.C.)

Urgent need:
Assembly Member Patti Berg will re-introduce euthanasia legislation for the 2006 session of the California legislature. She is optimistic that she will have the support.

Polling indicates that when asked, most Americans are initially supportive of physician-assisted suicide. This support tends to be just as strong among the churched as well as un-churched population! (It is also the case among some who consider themselves pro-life in regards to abortion.)

But the same polling also shows that support of assisted suicide turns to opposition as information regarding its risks and the availability of positive alternatives are presented. Death As A Salesman, (DAAS), both the book and television program, were developed as tools to get this basic information across quickly and easily. Both book and video can be ordered from CPLC (800) 924-2490.

What follows is an outline of methods that a pro-life group or individual can easily use to impact their community with the message of Life and hope, inoculating their friends and neighbors from succumbing to the siren’s song of euthanasia.

Public library:
Both book and video are carried by the major, public-library distribution services.

Ask your libraries to stock DAAS the book (ISBN 0-9641125-1-5). As most libraries now have audio-visual departments make sure they also have DAAS the video (ISBN 0-9641125-2-3). Many students doing homework assignments and research papers repeat whole cloth what they find in the library. Your library likely has many pro-euthanasia works, now those same public resources can be used for good. Gifts of book and video can be made to the library (800) 924-2490.

CHURCHES
Churches are the logical starting point in educating your community.

This is an excellent opportunity and entrée for your pro-life group. It’s an easy way to help the local church. By offering to do a Bible study class on the dangers of euthanasia, or making a presentation at an evening or mid-week service, you are offering the local church community a vital resource that few others can provide. It is often because of misplaced compassion and a lack of understanding that many people of faith are confused about end-of-life issues.

PRO-LIFE GROUPS
If your pro-life group isn't prepared to face this issue, who will?

Many pro-life individuals are prepared to debate abortion, but are at a loss regarding euthanasia. The video and book allow a “quick overview.” Many pro-life speakers can comfortably give a presentation by showing the video and then being available to answer questions.

CIVIC GROUPS AND 'DECISION MAKERS'

The DAAS presentation has been made to Lyons Clubs and other civic organizations. Because it is a “new” issue, and not yet politically charged, many civic groups are open to a frank presentation of the topic. Sending the video, or watching it with local public officials or community leaders, allows you to elicit a response and educate about any misunderstandings well BEFORE they are asked to make a public decision.

TELEVISION

Many local, commercial television stations will air the program with sponsorships. Public and cable access television routinely air DAAS in local communities for free when approached in the proper manner. Broadcast-quality tapes are also available on request from New Regency (800) 266-5639.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY.
