CURRENT LIFE ISSUES:

u  Prop 71 and its supporters found themselves under a microscope last week when Sen. Deborah Ortiz, who previously supported the proposition, chaired an oversight hearing to investigate several 'red flags' in the initiative.  These included independence in spending $3 billion of state funds, exemptions from state conflicts of interest laws, and, contrary to public perception, the creation of human clones.  Check out more information on the Prop 71 initiative and the pro-life response!

u While Terri Schiavo's struggle for life has gained increasing international attention, emergency legislation has been introduced with the hope of being reviewed by the Federal Court. Pro-life groups all over the country are urging their state legislators to support  The Incapacitated Person's Legal Protection Act of 2005, Time is running out,  encourage your representatives to support this bill!

u California legislators are considering a bill to legalize euthanasia throughout the state.  Despite the fact that Oregon's euthanasia law is being challenged before the Supreme Court, California Assembly Member Patty Berg believes she has enough support to pass AB 654, the Levine/Berg bill.  Polls indicate that the majority of informed people oppose euthanasia, while the uninformed are its biggest supporters! Inform your community and urge your legislators to oppose this bill!
