CURRENT LIFE ISSUES:

u  Terri Schiavo is slowly dying by being denied food and water.
The media and others have seized on her starvation as a means to promote "living wills" or "advanced medical directives." WARNING! Many of these contain language that once signed will allow you to be starved to death! Food and water is not mandatory medical treatment.  National Right to Life has developed a "Will to Live" that will protect you and your loved ones from starvation and the pressures that surround these types of decisions. You can examine and download a California Version or read about the Will to Live and find other state specific versions at www.nrlc.org/euthanasia/willtolive/StatesList

u The California Supreme Court has directed challengers of the Prop 71 initiative to appeal to the lower courts first.  While at the Supreme Court level, the institute created by the initiative was denied access to its $6 billion in grants; it is yet to be determined whether lawsuits in the California Superior Courts will be able to prevent the institution's distribution and use of the funds. Learn more about stem cell research and the dangers posed to California by Prop 71!

u
California legislators are considering a bill to legalize euthanasia throughout the state.
Despite the fact that Oregon's euthanasia law is being challenged before the Supreme Court, California Assembly Member Patty Berg believes she has enough support to pass AB 654, the Levine/Berg bill.  Polls indicate that the majority of informed people oppose euthanasia, while the uninformed are its biggest supporters! Inform your community and urge your legislators to oppose this bill!
