Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday that the legalization of
euthanasia should be decided by voters instead of politicians.
Lawmakers are preparing to debate whether to legalize
physician-assisted suicide in California, with Assembly members
planning to reintroduce their previously under-supported
euthanasia bill. Schwarzenegger refused to describe how he feels
personally about allowing doctors to help terminally ill people
die and seemed to suggest he would be uncomfortable signing
legislation that may land on his desk this year. u Support is building for federal legislation that would ensure that college women facing unexpected pregnancies know about alternatives to abortion. The measure would help women find resources they need to avoid pressures that make them feel abortion is their only solution. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, a North Carolina Republican, has teamed up with Rep. Melissa Hart of Pennsylvania for legislation that would provide colleges and universities with grants to set up “one-stop centers” offering information and resources for child care, parenting, family housing, and adoption. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, 52 percent of all abortions are performed on women under age 25. Read the complete story at our news page!
