CURRENT LIFE ISSUES:

u
The annual CPLC Prayer Breakfast and Rally was a huge success! Over 300 people attended the Prayer Breakfast, including several legislators. We were treated to encouraging words from Pastor Rick Cole and introduced to many children born through the life-saving efforts of the Bishop Gallegos Maternity Home. The workshops and rally at the Capitol saw a great union of pro-life groups, legislators and life-champions from all over California. If you missed the event, be sure to mark your calendar for next January, when we will surely have pro-life victories to celebrate!

u Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Tuesday that the legalization of euthanasia should be decided by voters instead of politicians. Lawmakers are preparing to debate whether to legalize physician-assisted suicide in California, with Assembly members planning to reintroduce their previously under-supported euthanasia bill. Schwarzenegger refused to describe how he feels personally about allowing doctors to help terminally ill people die and seemed to suggest he would be uncomfortable signing legislation that may land on his desk this year. Find out how you can influence the Governor's position on this deadly issue!

u Support is building for federal legislation that would ensure that college women facing unexpected pregnancies know about alternatives to abortion. The measure would help women find resources they need to avoid pressures that make them feel abortion is their only solution. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, a North Carolina Republican, has teamed up with Rep. Melissa Hart of Pennsylvania for legislation that would provide colleges and universities with grants to set up “one-stop centers” offering information and resources for child care, parenting, family housing, and adoption. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, 52 percent of all abortions are performed on women under age 25. Read the complete story at our news page!

"When a man steals to satisfy hunger, we may safely conclude that there is something wrong in society - so when a woman destroys the life of her unborn child, it is an evidence that either by education or circumstances she has been greatly wronged."
Mattie Brinkerhoffn, 1869
