PRO-ABORTION LAW FIRM: 30
STATES WOULD LIKELY BAN ABORTION IF ROE REVERSED
Washington, DC -- A leading pro-abortion law firm has released a
new report saying thirty states are likely to ban most or all abortions
if the Supreme Court reverses the Roe v. Wade decision. The firm also
conducted a poll finding many Americans are unaware of pro-life efforts
to get abortion bans in place for when the high court overturns the
case. The New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights says Roe is
under attack like never before with pro-life activists using new
strategies at both the state and federal level. It's most recent
version of its report "What if Roe Fell?" finds that pro-life groups are
advocating both immediate bans on abortion as well as trigger laws that
would make abortions illegal if Roe is reversed. "Across the
country, a dangerous, but largely undetected movement is laying the
foundation for a post-Roe world in which abortion would once again be a
crime," Nancy Northup, president of the Center, said in a statement
LifeNews.com received. The center says seventeen states have introduced
38 abortion bans or trigger laws in the last three years.

CONGRESSMAN'S BILL KEEPS
FAMILY PLANNING FUNDS FROM ABORTION CENTERS
Washington, DC -- A leading
pro-life Congressman has introduced a new bill in the House of
Representatives that would keep federal family planning funds from going
to abortion centers. However, the bill faces an uphill battle as
pro-life advocates have had a difficult time getting enough votes to
support such a measure. Rep. Mike Pence, an Indiana Republican,
introduced the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act on Thursday to
keep those Title X tax funds away from groups like Planned Parenthood.
The money will, instead, go to groups that do not do abortions. Pence
discussed his new bill in a statement on the House floor that he
provided to LifeNews.com. “There are many good things happening in
federally funded family planning clinics nationwide," he said. "But
should the largest abortion provider in America also be the largest
recipient of federal family planning funding under Title X? I think
not."

RON PAUL: GOP WILL LOSE
IF PRO-ABORTION GIULIANI WINS, MITT ROMNEY PRO-LIFE
Washington, DC -- Republican congressman Ron Paul says the GOP will
likely lose the presidential elections next year if pro-abortion ex-New
York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is the nominee. The Texas representative
also says he thinks Mitt Romney's conversion to the pro-life position is
authentic. Paul has run most of his campaign for president as an
asterisk -- barely showing up in national polls and surveys of
Republicans in leading primary states. As his campaign organization and
fundraising give him more credibility, he may not have risen to the
top-tier of the GOP presidential race but he's getting more interview
opportunities. Paul sat down with The Bulletin, a conservative newspaper
in Philadelphia and addressed his rivals' stance on abortion.
Whether the Republican Party can win the 2008 elections "probably
depends a lot on who the opponent is" Paul says. But regarding Giuliani,
he thinks most pro-life people are "not so anxious to go with him." "I
think they are on the road to having a worse election in 2008 than they
did in 2006. A lot of people I talk to confidentially think we're going
to be much worse off after next year," he says. Paul says many in the
GOP are concerned about how the Republican Party's pro-life base won't
turn out to vote if the former mayor is the nominee.

POLL SHOWS MEN,
REPUBLICANS AND EVEN WOMEN OPPOSE HILLARY CLINTON
Washington, DC -- Pro-life advocates will never support Hillary
Clinton for president, but a new poll by USA Today and Gallup shows
large numbers of key segments of the population won't either. Should she
capture the Democratic nomination for president, the poll shows she will
have significant problems getting enough support to win in November. The
survey shows 84% of Republicans and more than half of married men polled
say they would never vote for Clinton for president. Overall 43 percent
of all Americans say they won't support Clinton -- higher than any 2008
presidential candidate. Clinton's negatives are so high in the
survey that 36 percent of women and even 10 percent of Democrats say
there's no chance she will earn their vote.

PRO-LIFE ORGANIZER OF "40
DAYS OF LIFE" SAYS FOCUS ON ABORTION WON'T STOP
Washington, DC -- The official "40 Days of Life" nationwide campaign
of prayer at abortion businesses across America may be over, but the
organizer of the event says the focus against abortion won't stop. The
event is credited with helping re-organize pro-life groups on the local
level and starting new ones to stand up for women and children.
"In the final hours of the 40 Days for Life campaign, a volunteer
approached me with a sincere, heartfelt question," David Bereit,
national campaign director for the event, told LifeNews.com. "At
an event in Fargo, North Dakota, a young man rolled his wheelchair over
to me and said, 'I hope you aren't offended by this, but we simply can't
stop," he said. "Not only do I understand that no-quit attitude but I
also fully embrace it," Bereit explained. "He's absolutely correct. The
abortion industry believes that we are going to simply fade away. They
fully expect us to settle back into complacency, leaving them free to
continue their deadly business without hindrance. This cannot happen.
This will not happen," he added. The 40 Days for Life campaign began on
September 26 in more than 80 communities in 33 states, with thousands of
volunteers from coast to coast engaging in peaceful pro-life outreach.
That included round-the-clock prayer vigils outside abortion
facilities and Planned Parenthood locations in many cities.

NEW JERSEY EMBRYONIC STEM CELL RESEARCH BACKERS PROCEED DESPITE VOTE
Trenton, NJ -- New Jersey voters made their views
clear this week on forcing taxpayers to fund embryonic stem cell
research and human cloning. They voted 53 to 47 against a measure that
would have made state voters spend $450 million over 10 years for
research that has never succeeded in animals, yet alone helped humans.
Yet lawmakers say they are proceeding with building stem cell research
centers financed by a bill the state legislature approved, despite what
voters said.

WASHINGTON PHARMACISTS
WIN VICTORY ON LAW FORCING PLAN B PRESCRIPTIONS
Olympia, WA -- Pharmacists in Washington won a
victory yesterday when a federal judge halted a new state requirement
forcing them to fill prescriptions for all drugs, including those that
would violate their moral or religious beliefs. Under pressure from
pro-abortion Gov. Chris Gregoire, the pharmacy board approved the rules
earlier this year. Kevin Stormans, who owns pharmacies in the state,
filed a lawsuit along with other pharmacists in July seeking to overturn
the new rules. The medical professionals say the law forces them into
"choosing between their livelihoods and their deeply held religious and
moral beliefs." The state board approved the new rules on a unanimous
vote saying that pharmacists can't get in the way of a patient's "right"
to a prescription.
The new rules allow pharmacists to opt out of dispensing the drug, but
only if a colleague is available at the pharmacy at the time the
customer wants the drug. Pharmacy owners are not given an option to
exercise their rights. But U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton ruled
that pharmacists can refuse to fill a prescription for the morning after
pill or other objectionable drugs if they refer the customer to another
store where they can get the order filled.
