MODESTO STUDENT WINS STATE ORATORY CHAMPIONSHIP

 

 

Text Box:    Sacramento – Matthew Mason, a high school student from Modesto, edged out talented students from throughout California to win the annual statewide oratory contest sponsored by the California ProLife Council.  Mason, a high school Junior who is home schooled through Sierra View Christian School, was crowned State Champion at the State Capitol, after wowing contest judges with his speech entitled “A Choice”.
    Mr. Mason earned his trip to the State Finals after winning top honors in the Stanislaus regional oratory contest.
   Mr. Mason will now travel to Kansas City, Missouri where he will represent California in competition against the top high school orators from the other 49 States at the national championship oratory contest sponsored by the National Right to Life Committee in June.
   After moving on to college, young Mr. Mason hopes to return home and apply his oratory skills by serving his community in the political arena.

The California ProLife Council’s Annual Oratory Contest is open to all of our State’s high school students.   If you know a promising young orator, please encourage him or her to enter our upcoming 2008 contest!
