Planned Parenthood – Tax-Supported Hate SpeechLeading pro-life groups calls for end to Attorney General Lockyer’s protection of pro-abortion hate speech Sacramento - Today the California ProLife Council, the state affiliate of National Right to Life, has asked Attorney General Bill Lockyer to investigate whether taxpayer monies were used to assist in any way with Planned Parenthood Golden Gate’s posting of a cartoon that advocated violence toward pro-life people. The web site, until recently, depicted a “pro-choice” super hero drowning an advocate of abstinence and shooting peaceful pro-life protestors with condoms that would then explode, killing them. It also showed a decapitation of a pro-life supporter at the end. “This kind of hate speech is unacceptable,” said Brian Johnston, California ProLife Executive Director. “If a rogue group claiming to be pro-life had done this there would be outrage and investigations,” he added. “And much more so if it was a government financed organization, which Planned Parenthood is.” Planned
Parenthood Golden Gate reported that in 2004, 53 percent of its revenue came
from government fees and contracts. California
ProLife has formally asked Bill Lockyer to investigate. “In the past,
Attorney General Lockyer has kow-towed to the state's abortion
business. It is time for him to stand up and denounce hate and violence, and
protect taxpayers' money from being used to promote it,” Johnston concluded ###
