Abortion regulations in California? None. Though unregulated, it’s government funded

Special Report – Abortion in California

CALIFORNIA LAW: ABORTION ON DEMAND AND ABORTION WITHOUT LIMITS–WHAT THE CURRENT LAW REALLY SAYS
FEDERAL ABORTION LAW — AUTHORIZES ABORTION ON DEMANDThe expansive definition of health given in Doe v. Bolton, 410 U.S. 179, 192 (1973) as including “all factors – physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age” controls the extent of the abortion right announced in Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113, 153 (1973) and affirmed in Planned Parenthood of Southeastern PA v. Casey, 505 U.S. 833, 871 (1992). In effect, since any prohibition on late-term abortions must include an exception for the life and health of the mother, the exception eviscerates any ban a state may want to impose and results in abortion on demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy.
The official report of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee issued in 1983 confirmed this: “‘As a result of the Roe decision, a right to abortion was effectively established for the entire term of pregnancy for virtually any reason, whether for the sake of personal finances, social convenience, or individual lifestyle … Thus, the Committee observes that no significant legal barriers of any kind whatsoever exist today in the United States for a woman to obtain an abortion for any reason during any stage of her pregnancy.’” (Report, Committee on the Judiciary, U.S. Senate, on Senate Joint Resolution 3, 98th Congress, 98-149, June 7, 1983, p. 6)
CALIFORNIA ABORTION LAW — GOVERNMENT FUNDED ABORTION ON DEMAND THROUGHOUT ALL NINE MONTHS OF PREGNANCY
The language of California’s Abortion Statute CA Health and Safety Code Sec. 123468 follows the ruling of Casey in including the life and health exception to authorize abortions on viable babies. This means abortion on demand throughout all nine months, whenever the paid abortionist chooses to do it, as he can apply psychological, emotional and ‘age ‘ considerations in any way he wishes.
The Medi-Cal Provider Manual published by the CA Department of Health Care Services states on page one that abortion is a covered benefit regardless of the gestational age of the fetus, and that medical justification and authorization for abortion are not required.
True to the real meaning of Roe/Doe/Casey, California allows state-funded abortion on demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy.
ABORTION REGULATIONS in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations were repealed in 2014.
CA BORN ALIVE INFANTS’ PROTECTION ACT – unenforced, ignored, and meaningless
CA Health and Safety Code Sec. 123435 states that a child born alive after an abortion has the same rights to medical care as an infant prematurely born spontaneously. This law is ignored.
Because  California does not require abortion providers to report to the state, California is paying for abortions on children up to the point of natural birth, with no oversight or mechanism for enforcement. There is no ability to protect children born alive in the course of abortion despite the compelling state interest to do so.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Responsibility to vote and vote for morally upright values

“Where democracy exists, it is our duty as members to vote for honorable men and women who are willing to serve … Every Latter-day Saint should sustain, honor, and obey the constitutional law of the land in which he lives.”
– Russell Ballard, President, Quorum of 12 Apostles, 2018

Assisted Suicide/Euthanasia

Handbook 2; Selected Church Policies and Guidelines   21.3.3
“Euthanasia is defined as deliberately putting to death a person who is suffering from an incurable condition or disease. A person who participates in euthanasia, including assisting someone to commit suicide, violates the commandments of God.”

Abortion – Church Handbook

“Human life is a sacred gift from God. Elective abortion for personal or social convenience is contrary to the will and the commandments of God. Church members who submit to, perform, encourage, pay for, or arrange for such abortions may lose their membership in the Church.

In today’s society, abortion has become a common practice, defended by deceptive arguments. Latter-day prophets have denounced abortion, referring to the Lord’s declaration, “Thou shalt not … kill, nor do anything like unto it” (D&C 59:6). Their counsel on the matter is clear: Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must not submit to, perform, encourage, pay for, or arrange for an abortion. Church members who encourage an abortion in any way may be subject to Church discipline.”

The State of California currently:

  • Funds abortion on demand
  • Underwrites abortion and its marketing via taxpayer dollars
  • Pays for human experiments on human embryos and embryo farms (Prop 71)
  • Approves the promotion and implementation of assisted suicide on the medically and emotionally vulnerable. (AB 282, 2018)

Duty of Catholics to Vote, and to vote for pro-life lawmakers

October 3, 2018 by Dylan Raines

The Catechism is clear: it is the government’s responsibility to protect innocent human lives and it must do so through legislation. Voters must remind and hold accountable those legislators.

2273 The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation:

“The inalienable rights of the person must be recognized and respected by civil society and the political authority. These human rights depend neither on single individuals nor on parents; nor do they represent a concession made by society and the state; they belong to human nature and are inherent in the person by virtue of the creative act from which the person took his origin. Among such fundamental rights one should mention in this regard every human being’s right to life and physical integrity from the moment of conception until death.”

Joint Statement of Bishops Kevin Farrell and Kevin Vann
(Vann, then of Dallas, now of Orange, CA) 2008

This year, Respect Life Month takes on a more profound meaning as we face an election in our country where the protection of human life itself, particularly that of the unborn, is very much at stake. Therefore, as your Bishops, we wish to take this opportunity to provide clear guidance on the proper formation of conscience concerning voting as faithful Catholics and to articulate the Church’s clear and unambiguous teaching on life issues as they relate to other issues of concern.

The Church teaches that all Catholics should participate as “faithful citizens” in the public square, especially through our voice in the voting booth, and that we have the responsibility to treat the decision for whom we will vote for with profound moral seriousness. We must approach the right and duty to vote with a properly formed and informed conscience in accordance with the teachings of the Church.”
———-

Statement of US Catholic Bishops, Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship

“There are some things we must never do, as individuals or as a society, because they are always incompatible with love of God and neighbor. Such actions are so deeply flawed that they are always opposed to the authentic good of persons. These are called ‘intrinsically evil’ actions. They must always be rejected and opposed and must never be supported or condoned. A prime example is the intentional taking of innocent human life, as in abortion and euthanasia. In our nation, ‘abortion and euthanasia have become preeminent threats to human dignity because they directly attack life itself, the most fundamental human good and the condition for all others’ (Living the Gospel of Life, no. 5). It is a mistake with grave moral consequences to treat the destruction of innocent human life merely as a matter of individual choice. A legal system that violates the basic right to life on the grounds of choice is fundamentally flawed.” (22)

When other public issues are offered as distraction

There are some, even in the Church, who are seeking to ‘redefine the right to life’ or deflect and distract from its significance by inserting other issues. This is a seriously evil action in seeking the faithful to stumble, or to encourage them to vote in a way that may promote abortion legislation via promoting pro-death legislators.

“The deliberate killing of innocent life is a uniquely wicked act. No amount of contextualizing or deflecting our attention to other issues can obscure that.” Archbishop Chaput of Philadelphia, August 2015

We are Catholics who believe in the actual Church’s teachings regarding abortion and the sanctity of human life. We support Father Frank Pavone and Priests for Life and all good bishops and priests that affirm Catholic doctrine, specifically Catechism section 2273.

Christians’ Obligation to Civic Responsibility and to ensure the defenseless are protected by authorities

October 3, 2018 by Dylan Raines

California, the nation’s most populous state, has more megachurches than any other state and one in five of its residents are evangelical Christians. But in 2016, only 13 percent of California voters were born-again Christians, compared to 26 percent nationwide. New York Times, May 27, 2018

“It is absolutely vital for you to vote this November to continue the momentum gained as new laws are introduced protecting people of faith, and as federal judges retire and are replaced. The right to vote in a free country is a gift from God. We must use the voice we have, or we risk losing it. Franklin Graham, May 2018

Abortion

Ps 139:13-16 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Gen. 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Euthanasia / Assisted suicide

“Hold back those who are being drawn to death, and save those being taken to slaughter. If you say, “But we didn’t know about this,” won’t he who weighs hearts consider it? Won’t he who protects your life know?” Pr. 24:11
